Former Kentucky Offensive Coordinator Bush Hamdan Joins Miami Dolphins as Quarterbacks Coach
A former assistant coach at Kentucky, Bush Hamdan, is leaving the college ranks for the NFL, marking the latest in a string of high-profile departures from the Wildcats' coaching staff. Hamdan, who spent two seasons as Kentucky's offensive coordinator, is now headed to the Miami Dolphins as a quarterbacks coach, joining the team's inaugural coaching staff under Jeff Halfley.
This move comes just two months after Hamdan accepted an associate head coach for offense role at Mississippi State, a position he held for just two months. Prior to this, Hamdan worked as a quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons, contributing to Matt Ryan's impressive performance in 2017, where he ranked sixth in passing yards. Hamdan's journey in the NFL began with the Falcons, and he now returns to the league after a successful stint in college.
The Dolphins are expected to benefit from Hamdan's expertise, as he joins a team that already includes former Kentucky assistant Zach Yenser, who was promoted to offensive line coach. This reunion with offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, with whom he worked previously, further strengthens the Dolphins' offensive staff.
Hamdan's departure from Kentucky is not an isolated incident. He follows in the footsteps of Liam Coen and Rich Scangarello, both of whom left the Wildcats for NFL coaching positions. Kentucky's offensive statistics under Hamdan's leadership provide insight into the team's performance, with a steady improvement in points per drive, success rate, and EPA/play over the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
