The Atlanta Falcons are on the hunt for their next head coach, and the search is officially underway! After parting ways with Raheem Morris at the close of the 2025 season, the Falcons are determined to find the right leader to guide the team. This is a pivotal moment for the franchise, as they seek their 20th head coach in team history.
The search is being spearheaded by a new-look leadership group, including Falcons President of Football, Matt Ryan. They're getting help from ZRG Partners and Sportsology Group.
As Falcons owner Arthur Blank explained, the search committee will have a slightly different structure than in the past. The focus is on hiring a President of Football first, who will then lead the interviews for the head coach and general manager positions. The Falcons will announce the interviews after they're completed with each candidate.
The NFL has specific rules for these interviews, which you can find outlined here (link to the NFL rules).
The Falcons have already completed an interview with Klint Kubiak for the head coach position.

Meet Klint Kubiak
Currently serving as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, Kubiak brings a wealth of experience to the table.
Resume Highlights:
- Since 2015, Kubiak has held various roles, including quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator positions with the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and New Orleans Saints.
- He currently leads one of the league's most dynamic offenses with the Seahawks, who recently clinched the NFC West title and secured the No. 1 seed in the conference, a first since 2020. They also set a new franchise record with 14 wins this season.
- Offensively, the Seahawks finished the regular season third in scoring and tied for seventh in total yardage.
Local Connection
Kubiak has a past connection with Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, having worked with him in Minnesota from 2019-21. This existing familiarity could be a significant advantage if Cousins remains in Atlanta.
Why Kubiak?
Kubiak's decade-plus of offensive coaching experience makes him an attractive candidate for the Falcons, who are looking to maximize their young talent. The team has a franchise quarterback in Michael Penix Jr., drafted in the first round of 2024, along with key players like Bijan Robinson and Drake London still on their rookie contracts. The offensive line is mostly returning, and they could potentially use their franchise tag on tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.
Kubiak has demonstrated an ability to quickly elevate an offense's performance. The Seahawks' offense improved dramatically under his leadership, going from 14th in total yards and 18th in points scored in 2024 to eighth and third, respectively, in 2025. The Falcons, in comparison, were 14th in total yards and 24th in points scored this season.
Kubiak also comes from the Shanahan coaching tree, known for producing high-powered offenses. In 2023, he worked under Kyle Shanahan with the 49ers, helping running back Christian McCaffrey achieve a league-leading 1,459 rushing yards and 2,2023 yards from scrimmage on their way to a Super Bowl appearance. This experience could be particularly valuable for the Falcons, given their star running back, Bijan Robinson. Furthermore, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for the fifth-most yards in the NFL with 4,280, a potential target for Penix.
But here's where it gets controversial... Could Kubiak be the missing piece to unlock the Falcons' offensive potential? Or will his Seahawks success not translate to Atlanta? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
