Get ready, music lovers! A treasure trove of studio equipment, once belonging to the legendary Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, is up for grabs. This is your chance to own a piece of rock and roll history!
Soundgas, a UK-based company specializing in vintage and exotic audio gear, is managing the auction. They're offering a unique opportunity to acquire equipment from Jones's personal collection.
"John is still very active musically," Soundgas explains, "but no longer requires so much studio equipment - most of which he has owned from new. He feels it should be in the hands of people who will put it to good use." This means you could be the next to give these items a new life!
One of the standout items is a Thunderbass amplifier made by Guild, a company that has been around since 1952. This amp was used by Jones during his time with Them Crooked Vultures. It's an interesting story: the amp was once loaned out and returned with its speakers blown. Despite this, the untested amp is estimated to sell for between £1,200 and £1,400.
But here's where it gets controversial... the amp's condition might make some collectors hesitate.
Other exciting items include rack-mounted equipment, a pair of AKAI digital samplers, classic Yamaha NS-10M speakers, a rare Simmons SDS V electronic drum kit, and an even rarer Arbiter Soundimension mechanical echo unit from the 1960s. The echo unit is available now for just £4,817.587.
Soundgas confirms that these items come from Jones's private studio and were not used during Led Zeppelin's recording sessions. However, owning equipment used by such a musical icon is still a thrilling prospect!
